“A Bible study on my campus is where I first understood that God knew my name.”
Amara
Amara arrived at university in Nairobi certain of one thing: she would keep her faith and her studies in separate rooms. A campus Bible study wasn't part of the plan, but a classmate kept inviting her, week after week, without pressure.
She finally went out of politeness. What she found was a small circle of students reading a single chapter of Scripture together and asking honest questions — no lecture, no performance, just people paying attention to an old text and to each other.
"I'd grown up around faith, but I'd never had anyone ask me what I actually thought," she says. "That study is where I first understood that God knew my name — not just people in general, but me."
Three years later, Amara leads a study of her own on the same campus, still meeting in the same borrowed classroom on Tuesday evenings.
