Confess, do not be ashamed – 1 JOHN 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

In moments of sins, shame consume us. A voice of condemnation whisper on us on how awful we are and undeserving of forgiveness. As it go over us, we tend to distance ourselves from God, because of shame, and the voice repeatedly says that we won’t be forgiven, we will remain the same, our prayers will not be heard and ultimately leads to speaking words against ourselves and affects our relationship with others and more importantly, with God.

Today’s passage is constant reminder to shun these voices in our heads. God through Jesus Christ, is “faithful and just” to forgive, if we just confess our sins and lay to him everything we feel about that leads us to sin. This process is sanctification – God’s purification over us, not by our own works but because of God’s sufficient grace for us, that Jesus being our righteousness, through the power of the spirit, He will grant us wisdom to do, appreciate and love what is right. Until to the point that we disgust our sin because of our love for God.

If you are suffering from sin and the condemnation that comes with it, silence this with the truth – Jesus has already won over sin – this is your way out – Christ. Confess, ask Him to come and heal and Lord over a specific area of your life – for His mercies and grace never ran out in our desire to live a repenting life. God does not condemn, but offers freedom through Christ.
